I was given the opportunity to paint a picture for the REGI Base Endowment Fund, which created a charitable art project to support disabled war veterans and current heroes. It was an event for the International Day of War Veterans 11/11/2020. It was an exhibition called "Poppies in Pictures 2020."
This is an excerpt about the project from this project's catalog:
"The poppy is a symbol of war veterans, and this symbol has its origins in a poem called "On the Fields of Flanders" from 1915, written by Canadian surgeon John McCrae, who served on the Western Front near the Belgian city of Ypres during World War I and this he expressed his grief over his slain comrades in a poem.
This work was later commissioned as the third work in the series.
Take it home a piece of nature.
