I was given the opportunity to paint an artwork for the REGI Base Foundation, which has created a charitable art project to support disabled war veterans and current heroes. It was an event for International War Veterans Day on 11/11/2020. It involved an exhibition called "Poppies in Paintings 2020."
This is an excerpt about the project from this project's catalog:
"The poppy is a symbol of war veterans, and it has its origins in a 1915 poem called "In Flanders Fields" by Canadian surgeon John McCrae, who served on the Western Front near the Belgian town of Ypres during World War I and used the poem to express his grief for his fellow soldiers who were killed.
The REGI Base I. Foundation also commemorates our Czech war, police, or firefighting veterans, who sacrificed their lives for others on a daily basis. REGI Base's goal is to provide the opportunity to purchase poppies throughout the year so that funding can be continuously provided to help those who have served on our behalf, as required by their medical conditions or family emergencies."
The exhibition "Poppies in paintings 2020" contains 27 paintings created by 25 contemporary artists. These works were donated to the REGI Base foundation fund and will be auctioned at the Prague auction house Weinberg online from 11.11. until 17.12.2020
